Project Spotlight: Onfido

We recently had the pleasure of working alongside London-based design agency, Studio 11 on their new office development for tech company, Onfido. Due to Onfido’s exceptional growth, they have identified the need for a bigger workspace for the next stage.

Founded in 2012 by a trio of entrepreneurial students from Oxford University, Onfido provides the world’s best identity verification engines for businesses. The company has been featured in several top business publications with over 1,500 companies using their service across the globe.

The initial design brief focused on creating a clean, well-defined aesthetic with a harmonious Scandinavian edge. Commercial office design experts, Studio 11 Interiors designed the space and brought a sleek Nordic aesthetic to the Onfido office.

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Jamie and the Bureau team. They understood our brand and direction from day one and delivered the project successfully keeping to our tight deadline. We're already planning our next project with them!

Throughout the duration of the Onfido project, Bureau provided furniture consultancy, procurement and project management. Along with the design team at Studio 11, we selected the appropriate furniture to be in keeping with the design style selected for the project. Featuring a range of products from brands including Normann Copenhagen, Icons of Denmark, Workstories, Naughtone, Framery and more, Onfido’s office has been transformed into a hub of style and sophistication.

To create a bespoke welcome space, Bureau worked closely with Spacestor and Solidkit in delivering the ultimate reception area. Featuring a sleek, stylish storage wall and contemporary coffee area by Spacestor and bespoke reception desk, illuminated with the client’s logo by Solidkit, this foyer is a warm, welcoming and modern space.

The reception area was particularly Scandinavian in its overall design, with many of the furniture sourced from Scandinavian manufacturers. Icons of Denmark provided many of the furniture pieces in the seating area within the reception including the EC1 3-Seater Modular Sofa and Knock on Wood Coffee Tables. Combining timber and black lacquer, the coffee tables added a sophisticated edge to the reception area.

Studio 11 wanted to ensure that the office space was stylish and contemporary, with plenty of space for staff to interact in every area, including the kitchen. The Waldow 45 Dining Table bench by James Burleigh was selected for its modern simplicity as was the Form Barstool by Normann Copenhagen. Both products helped to create an integrated kitchen design scheme and added to the understated style of space.

It was a pleasure to work with such a forward-thinking client like Onfido. In designing their new office space, it was clear that the culture of their staff was a key driver of the design. It's a buzzy, considered and professional space to work, well reflecting Onfido as a company.

Paul Bateman, Head of Design at Studio 11

The main office space was designed with an ergonomic approach and included Workstories’ S30 Task Chairs to ensure optimum comfort for employees and Mobili’s Soho 2 desking solutions with sliding desktops.

Practical and beautiful, the Cloud Meeting Booth by Naughtone was also used in the main office area. A seating system with style and class, the Cloud is surrounded by pillowy comfort and the high back allows for added privacy, which is ideal for small meetings or creative brainstorming sessions.

The Scandinavian style continues through to the all-important meeting rooms. The Form Armchair Swivel 5W by Normann Copenhagen comfortably cocoons the user while seated and its aluminium swivel base creates a striking contrast with the plastic seat. With expert craftsmanship and robust structure, the Forum Boardroom Table by Icons of Denmark balances style and structure with a modern edge.

A highly collaborative project with both Onfido and design & build firm Studio 11. Bureau worked closely with the client to curate a range of product to suit the brief, whilst ensuring the space is utilised to its full by incorporating breakout areas, private meeting pods and a range of agile working areas.
