We recently had the pleasure of working alongside Jordan McCaffery, Partner at HKSD, in the transformation of Millar & Bryce’s head office in Ocean Point, Edinburgh. The project was carried out during an incredibly tight construction programme and Bureau worked with Scotwood Interiors to ensure a smooth running of the installation.

Part of the Landmark Information Group, Millar & Bryce is Scotland’s leading provider of data reporting for conveyancing professionals in the European and Asia Pacific commercial and residential property markets. Due to a lease expiry and the client wishing to improve their working environment, Millar & Bryce decided to move to an open-plan and more collaborative working space. HKSD worked closely with Bureau in selecting appropriate furniture for the client that would complement their design aesthetic.

The focus of the initial design brief was to create an open-plan working environment which would encourage interaction and employee collaboration. With staff well-being of high importance to the client, electronic height adjustable desks and ergonomic task chairs were procured in the redesign of Miller and Bryce’s new workspace. The client also wanted to create an exciting, stylish, yet functional office environment that was in keeping with today’s design trends and still within budget.

Millar & Bryce was looking for a contemporary refresh of its furniture on moving into newly refurbished offices in Leith and gave staff the option of selecting this fantastic range of furniture from Bureau.

Featuring a range of products from Workstories, the client’s reception area was given a refined, industrial look. The Sling Lounge Chair worked well in the space with its perfectly plump seat and powder coated wire frame, which proves to be stylish and versatile. Also featured in the reception area was the Air Coffee Table, a stylish yet simple coffee table with four petit legs was the perfect addition to such an open reception space.

The reception area would not have been complete without a stunning focal point. To create optimum style impact, it was decided that the Z2 Reception Desk by The Quadrifoglio Group would be the perfect choice. With modular elements and sleek, architectural aesthetic, the Z2 Reception Desk includes a variety of luxury design features. The subtle under-counter LED lighting, and clever colour combinations make for a very stylish, elegant and welcoming reception area.

As the meeting rooms in the office varied in size, each product was carefully considered. The smaller four and five-person meeting rooms included furniture pieces by Mobili, including the Sienna Meeting Chair and Spin Meeting Table – which allowed clutter-free cable management. Ideal for group meetings and seminars, the larger ten-person boardroom featured Mobili’s Vega Conference Table with a soft edge detailing.

Throughout the Millar & Bryce office design, we worked closely with the team at Bureau to ensure the selected furniture would fit seamlessly into the overall design of the space, resulting in a collaborative and productive working environment.

The main office space was open-plan and therefore, required furniture pieces particularly suitable for this type of environment. Featuring a moulded foam seat and contoured back, the Remi Mesh Task Chair by Nomique was selected due to its ultimate comfort and support for the user.

Adapting beautifully to varying workstyles, the Soho2 Desking System has been incorporated throughout Millar & Bryce’s office space to ensure optimum comfort and stimulate employees’ everyday cooperation. Custom RAL painted leg frames for the desks were provided in order to compliment the storage units throughout.

As the brief from HKSD specified, Millar & Bryce wanted to encourage collaboration between employees and the breakout areas were designed in such a way to encourage staff to engage with one another in a more relaxed space. The Milo Sofa by Nomique was selected for its style and versatility, as it is a piece of furniture that can fit seamlessly with any working environment and adds a playful character to the client’s breakout areas.

Bureau were delighted to assist the design team at HKSD by creating a furniture package for Millar & Bryce’s new office that was in line with the design aesthetic whilst remaining within budget and timescales.
